250 grams of butter in cups
Butter's one effortless conversion lives at this weight: 250 grams is one whole 250 g European block, unwrapped, no measuring. In American terms that block is about 1.1 cups, or 2.2 sticks.

Butter across Europe ships in 250 g blocks, so 250 g is the one weight where the measuring dissolves: use the whole thing. Translated to US units it is 1.1 cups, 2.2 sticks, about 18 tablespoons. Going the other way is the fiddly direction, and for that the butter master page has the centimetre ruler for cutting any gram count off a block.
The 250-equals-250 trap
Some charts say 250 g of butter is one metric cup, as if 250 ml and 250 g were the same thing. They are not: butter is lighter than water, so a full 250 ml cup of it weighs about 240 g, ten grams short of the block. The numbers match by coincidence of packaging, not physics. We publish no metric cup for butter, because the one Australian chart that prints one also prints a cup of water at four times its true weight, and a chart that wrong once is wrong to lean on.
